Any candidate for the position of associate lawyer must be fully bilingual and a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar, ideally with litigation experience (2 to 5 years minimum), with a demonstrable interest in class actions, commercial litigation, and construction law.

Under the supervision of the partners at INF, you will practice law according to the mandates and instructions given to you, in compliance with all your professional and ethical obligations as outlined in the Code of Ethics of Lawyers, the Professional Code, and the Law on the Bar.

We are looking for a candidate who wishes to elevate their practice to the next level, with rigor, attention to detail, an innate business sense, and a team-oriented mindset.

As a paralegal at INF, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Drafting letters and legal procedure drafts;
  • Conducting legal research (databases and registers);
  • Preparing authorities' binders and documents for hearings (motions and trials);
  • Liaising with bailiffs regarding service or documents to be produced;
  • Reviewing and editing appeal briefs, argument outlines, and various reports;
  • Supporting the preparation of hearings (administrative tribunals, Quebec Court, Superior Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court);
  • Assisting in the preparation of interrogatories and gathering responses to undertakings;
  • Managing the agenda and court deadlines;
  • Creating and managing electronic case files in the JurisÉvolution software;
  • Creating and organizing files meticulously in SharePoint;
  • Managing digital documentation.

To carry out these functions, INF provides a computer for exclusive use for work purposes, a personalized email address, a Microsoft 365 profile including the latest Office suite, access to JurisÉvolution, and access to all necessary legal tools or databases to perform the tasks outlined above.

Specific Requirements

The candidate must hold a post-secondary diploma in legal techniques or another related field. A sense of priorities, motivation, and a desire to do well are three essential qualities for the position. A good level of English or bilingualism is also preferred, as you may be required to draft documents in English and communicate orally in English.

Additional Information on Compensation

Compensation, benefits (group insurance plan, corporate discounts, mobile allowance), and any performance bonuses are comparable to those offered by a national firm. The firm provides a meal for all employees every noon. Compensation reviews are done annually after December 31.

As a legal assistant at INF, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist the firm's lawyers with litigation files, and perform all related administrative tasks (correspondence, follow-up, reminders, etc.). );
  • Assist in case management;
  • Draft trial protocols and court procedures;
  • Organize and electronically file pleadings and court documents;
  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar of deadlines in various court files;
  • Coordinate and plan procedural steps in court files;
  • Search for documents and perform computerized legal research using specialized databases and software (SOQUIJ, CanLII, CAIJ and REJB/Westlaw Canada);
  • Create and manage electronic case files in JurisÉvolution software (opening and closing files);
  • Analyze and draft summaries of testimony or depositions;
  • Draft legal correspondence and follow up on files;
  • Coordinate notifications and productions with the bailiffs' office;
  • Enter billable hours worked in the corresponding files in JurisÉvolution software.

 

For the performance of these duties, INF provides a computer for exclusive use for the purposes of the job, a personalized email address, a Microsoft 365 profile including the latest Office suite, access to JurisÉvolution and access to all legal tools or databases required to perform the tasks described above.

  • Monitoring case law in the firm's areas of law;
  • Writing essays, memos, or legal articles;
  • Assisting in the preparation of court, arbitration, or mediation files;
  • Drafting correspondence or legal procedure drafts.

To carry out these functions, INF provides a computer for exclusive use for work purposes, a personalized email address, a Microsoft 365 profile including the latest Office suite, access to JurisÉvolution, and access to all necessary legal tools or databases to perform the tasks outlined above.

Specific Requirements

The candidate must hold or be in the process of obtaining a law degree from a Canadian university or have completed the Bar School.
