Sophie Latraverse

Sophie Latraverse returns to her original vocation as a lawyer specializing in insurance and civil liability litigation, as counsel to the INF team.

After obtaining a master's degree in civil law, Sophie Latraverse worked as a lawyer in insurance law, construction law and product liability law in Montreal for 12 years, where she was involved in the defense of large-scale cases for insurers, car manufacturers, construction and engineering professionals. She spent the second part of her career in France, where she headed strategic litigation at the Ombudsman and Equal Rights Commission, the Défenseur des droits. After setting up its investigation department in 2005 as a specialist in evidence, she was its legal director from 2011 to 2021. Since 2013, Sophie has also been closely involved in the development and implementation of class action lawsuits in France.

Moreover, she was responsible for compliance and ethics in her role of legal director of the Ombudsman and Equal Rights Commission.

A recognized European expert, Sophie has acted as an advisor to the National Bar Council in France, the Ombudsman of Montreal, universities, a large audiovisual group and French multinationals. She has taught extensively at universities, the French National School for the Judiciary and the European Commission's training center (the Academy of European Law (ERA) in Trier). She continues to serve as an expert for the European Commission, a role she has held since 2004.
